So by now you’ve probably heard of the famous Apple Tablet. If you haven’t, it’s time to climb out from under the rock.
Not only have you probably heard about it, you’re probably already scheming on how to justify it as a “business expense”.
“But honey, I need it. It does… and… well… it can… but it will…”
That’s just it. Nobody actually knows what it does, but everybody wants one or is so caught up in the frenzy that they will want one as soon as they see everyone else rushing the MAC stores.
Apple has mastered the art of what every brand wishes it could do.
Apple controls it’s target market.
[EDITORS NOTE]
I wrote this post just before the the iPads release. I guess I should of scheduled it to publish a week ago. DOH!!
Voodoo Mind Control
Apple is undoubtedly the master at controlling its market. People are willing to spend 3 times as much for the latest mac months before they even completely know what it’ll do.
Now granted, Apple spends a bucket load of cash on advertising and market research, but that’s not the only reason they’ve turned there market into raving fans.
Here’s how they do it
- Apple “is” Apple – there is no question about Apple’s personality. They have never changed there branding to make the public happy
- They don’t just listen to what the market wants now, they look at the markets vision of the future and then create the steps to get there. Apple will never release a product just to add to its yearly sales. Each release is a spring board to the next – bringing us further with better products and better experiences. (even if we don’t know it yet)
- They’ve got the goods to back it up. Not to name any names (Vista), but selling something that isn’t 100%, ain’t cool. Too many companies sell sub-par products or services that don’t live up to the hype.
- The Teaser – of course they’re the ones that let the little facts/myths out to certain sources (usually sites like MacRumors.com) It’s never anything confirmed and that’s what drives people crazy. That added with the fact that Apple products are always better than expected, creates the feeding frenzy associated with their new releases.
- They’re Game Changers – Apple has completely changed the way we communicate, absorb information, listen and purchase music, and others. Lets face it, they’ve changed the way we live.
So how are you affecting your target market?
Do they care about you? Are they listening to you?
When you create a product or offer a service are you making your customers feel excited, complete, or better off?
If you’re not – it’s time to go back to the drawing board.
